The wedding couple
March 1920

Jena

Due to the collapse of the Austrian Hungarian Monarchy and the subsequently reduced number of universities and colleges, the chances for employment are rather bleak. Thus, Schrödinger accepts an offer from the University of Jena and leaves Vienna. Prior to his move to Jena, Erwin marries Annemarie Bertel on April 6, 1920.

In recognition of his achievements, the University of Jena files an application to award him the title Associate Professor (a.o. Professor) without teaching assignment on June 25, 1920. At the end of September the unpaid a.o. Professor announces that starting on the first of the next month he "has received and accepted an offer from the Technical University in Stuttgart to be a salaried Associate Professor of Theoretical Physics."
