Eamon de Valera, prime minister of Ireland and a former
mathematician, sees the opportunity to further scientific development in his country. He
establishes an institute for advanced studies whose department for theoretical physics is
tailored to Schrödinger. Thus, he succeeds to bring the Nobel Prize winner to Ireland for
the next 16 years. |
